has long been the mainstay of Nicaragua's economy. The peasants
of Nicaragua, living outside of the 4 cities, are primarily
comprised of farmers or artists.
Those of the peasant class living in the cities of Leon, Managua, Granada, and Blue Field, work at unskilled labor
Throughout Nicaragua pueblos and villages are found where
people live specializing in a craft or skill.
Traveling the country from place to place, tourists discover
pockets of wonderful art and culture.
The villages of Caterina and neighboring San Juan de Oriente are famous for fine plants, furniture and pottery, while the pueblos of Esteli and Jinotega focus on tobacco, cigar production, and coffee.
