Mission Statement

The mission of Chavalos Nica is to offer children of Nicaragua opportunities, not available to them through normal public channels in Nicaragua, that prepare them to be adult leaders with a goal of helping Nicaragua become a more well-rounded and effective nation. The organization is Bible based though not affiliated with any specific religious organization.

Supporters and members of the Board of Directors come from various religious, ethnic, and national backgrounds, and seek to provide kids in the program with a sound Bible base and better educational opportunities.

The Founder

Rev. Mickey Dodson moved to Nicaragua in the 1990's. She had no specific goal except to help a country she loved in whatever way available. Chavalos Nica came into being when she discovered that the poor children of Nicaragua wanted to know about God and how He could affect their lives, and wanted a chance to be a positive part of Nicaragua's future. The 'program', as the kids describe it, developed out of the need for better educational opportunities.
